The Common Agricultural Policy provides the legal framework for the European dairy industry. EUCOLAIT is therefore regularly in contact with the Commission, the Council and the European Parliament as well as with national representatives in Brussels, in order to promote the interests of dairy trade and to offer its expertise on market issues.
EUCOLAIT is also a platform for discussion and meetings for European and international dairy trade companies. Through EUCOLAIT meetings, companies are able to exchange their views and develop closer professional and cross-border links.
The policy work of EUCOLAIT is carried out by specific product committees: Butter fat products, Dry dairy products and Cheese. More technical issues are dealt with by the Standing Technical Committee. Senior company executives active in dairy trade, chair the product committees. All committees are held at least three times a year. When necessary, ad hoc working groups may be set up on specific topics (WTO, imports, exports, food law, customs issues, etc.).
EUCOLAIT's Info-Service is an unparalleled web-based information service for European dairy trade. It is a unique tool, providing our members with almost daily news on dairy trade issues such as import and export conditions, veterinary and licensing requirements, food legislation, EU trade agreements, market measures such as intervention and private storage for butter and SMP, etc.
